Water Heater Causes Mold

Black Mold in Lafayette, LA

The black mold growing in this home started after the water heater started leaking. The water soaked up the drywall and was left too long before being remediated. It couldn't really be helped as the homeowners were out of town and came home to the mess.

The homeowners called SERVPRO of Lafayette to do the cleanup. We had started with the utility room but as we removed the visible mold on the surfaces we found more mold behind the drywall. We needed to remove the drywall from the utility room and down the hallway in the end as black mold had grown behind the wall for some time.
